Hollingshead Covered Bridge

Hollingshead Bridge spans Catawissa Creek in Catawissa Township, Columbia County. It is on Twp. Rte. 405, southeast of Catawissa Borough. The Hollingshead Bridge was built in 1851 by Peter Ent for a cost of $1,180.00. Henry Hollingshead owned a nearby mill. Structure length of bridge 116 feet 10 inches. Hollingshead Bridge will go under some heavy repairs come the Spring of 1999, construction crews will be replacing timber beams and adding more beams to the underneath of the bridge. Also the bridge will be painted and the concrete will be repaired. Completion of the work is expected by end of Summer. Picture on right taken July 11 1999.
