Riegel Covered Bridge

The Riegel Bridge on Township route 312 north of Rohrbach in Franklin Township spanned Roaring Creek. It is often confused with the Rishel covered bridge in Northumberland County, and was mistakenly thought to be one of the oldest remaining covered bridges in Pennsylvania. The Riegel Bridge was built in 1870 at a cost of $1882.50, built by Jacob Kostenbaufer, and was named for a nearby farmer. It was destroyed by arson in 1979. It was 116 ft. 10 ins. in length, 14 ft. 10 in. wide and was of the Burr Truss type.
